Life in Culpeper

Between the year 2000 and today, the county’s population jumped from approximately 34,000 people to just over 50,000. But take a quick drive through town and you’ll realize that Culpeper clearly serves a market much larger than 50,000 people. That’s because Culpeper serves as a hub of commerce, industry, healthcare and culture for its residents and several surrounding counties in central Virginia.

Festivals and Events

Throughout the year, Culpeper hosts a popular schedule of Festivals and Special Events, including February’s Mardi Gras Celebration, April’s Gnarly Hops and Barley Fest, May’s Wicked Bottom 5K, The Summer Third Thursday Concert Series, June’s CulpeperFest, an old-fashioned Fourth of July Festival with a Car and Bike Show, September’s Hoptober Fest, a Fall Farm Tour, October’s Air Fest and a Holiday Open House.

Mostly forested, the park includes a vast network of trails— including a section of the Appalachian Trail— and features wetlands, waterfalls and rocky peaks like Hawksbill and Old Rag mountains.
