Workforce Development

The workforce story in Culpeper has many chapters that tell of the depth and breadth of workforce opportunities here. It is a story you can write or a story you can live. It can help you get the training you want or the employees you need. It provides an opportunity to prepare and an opportunity to excel.

Culpeper’s workforce has access to many resources for education, training and certifications. Our training and workforce partners are listed in the next section along with links to provide in-depth information for each.

Culpeper supports a wide variety of companies in many different industries from IT to manufacturing, from aerospace to value-added agriculture, from industrial services to healthcare.

Last year Culpeper companies partnered with the school system and the community college to celebrate Manufacturing Day. Nearly 100 high school students visited with four manufacturing companies where they learned about jobs, skills and career growth.

In Culpeper County Public Schools, we are steering our students on a sure and steady course of lifelong learning. We are committed to equipping them well for their journey toward success in school and life. Culpeper County has six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools.

Slated to open Fall 2021, the Career and Technical Education school will be open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors from both Culpeper County and Eastern View high schools. It will offer training courses in computer-aided design, nursing, culinary arts, cosmetology, industrial maintenance, EMT, cybersecurity, and five building trades.

Career Partners is an all-volunteer organization with a mission to become a recognized educational model in creating synergy between local business, government, and community. Today, Career Partners oversees five educational programs and serves more than 3,000 local students.

Germanna Community College is one of the twenty-three community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System. It is a two-year public institution of higher education established in 1970 and provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents.

New Pathways is committed to providing innovative avenues for technical training and workforce development in the Virginia Piedmont Region with milling and machining onsite training held at the state-of-the-art New Pathways Tech Machinist School on the Carver Center Complex in Rapidan.

Carver Center is a multi-purpose educational and training facility that includes machine-shop training, an agriculture research center, as well as a planned commercial kitchen training facility and museum for the historic African American school that was here in the past.

Incentive Programs are offered by Culpeper County for qualified companies. Culpeper supports these companies with training incentives that include training-cost reimbursement, paid internships, and matching funds for statewide incentive programs.
